[ RSVP on Meetup ]The Salt Lake City Bitcoin Meetup is a monthly, in-person gathering. We have met every month for over five years, and counting.
Most meetups start at Brewvies around 6:00 PM with time to talk, catch up, and meet people in the lobby. Around 6:30, we head into one of the theaters for the main session: a presentation, open forum, debate, or hands-on demonstration. After that, we drift back out to the lobby to keep the conversation going and hang out.
We meet because money is upstream of everything. It shapes what people can save, build, risk, and pass on. When money is broken, the damage spreads into work, families, culture, and politics. Bitcoin matters because it gives ordinary people a way to hold value without needing permission from a bank, company, or state. It is not just an investment vehicle. It is an exit.
Regular people, developers, entrepreneurs, students, skeptics, longtime holders, and the newly curious. Whatever shape your interest in Bitcoin takes, someone here has probably thought about it, talked about it, or worked on it.
Come with a question, a disagreement, a project, or nothing at all. If you're serious, curious, or just tired of the noise, there is a chair for you.
Bitcoin touches money, history, energy, software, privacy, economics, and self-custody. Nobody understands it all on day one. Education starts with better questions, a few trusted resources, and a room where beginners can ask what everyone else once had to learn.
SLC-BTC is a place to get oriented. Learn why people care about fixed supply, how wallets and keys work, what running a node means, and how Bitcoin is different from the noise around it.
An entire ecosystem has been built on top of this protocol. Lightning for payments that settle in seconds, hardware wallets that put your keys in your pocket, full nodes that let you verify the chain yourself, Nostr for censorship-resistant messaging, ecash for private spending. Most of it is open source, most of it is free, and almost none of it asks permission.
Being a bitcoiner isn't about watching a price chart. It's about using the stack. Send sats over Lightning. Take your coins off an exchange. Spin up a node. Try a Nostr client. Bring what you broke, what you loved, what you can't figure out. Show up and actually use it.
